In 1971 as a fifth grader in Dallas, I first observed the Sun through a friend's refractor telescope equipped with solar filter. The sunspots were captivating, like pepper dots, let alone the fact we were looking at the Sun!

Over 50 years later, I observed the Sun again on Sept. 17, 2023.

DFW has been front row for some recent eclipses. The 11-year solar cycle peak is expected to occur this year. With all this activity, I'll capture those events, sunspots and promimences from the star that drives our life with the Hydrogen-Alpha telescope.
